firmware-tools software package provides Scripts and tools to manage firmware and BIOS updates, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install firmware-tools
firmware-tools is installed in your system.
Make ensure the firmware-tools package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep firmware-tools *
You will get with firmware-tools package name, version, architecture and description in a table
